Regional Bus Driver Training

The SEEC organizes regional bus driver training for member school districts in multiple areas covering a variety of topics including the required Defensive Driving Course. We work with the ND Safety Council to bring in qualified trainers to deliver this information.

All regular, substitute, and activity bus drivers are required by the Depart. of Public Instruction to attend the following training programs:

  • Annual 3-hour training workshop sponsored by the local school district or county superintendent's office.
  • Defensive Driver Course (DDC) 4-hour workshop every five years. New drivers must attend within one year of employment (including 9-person vehicles).
  • Other meetings/training called by the transportation director.

Please refer to the NDDPI Bus Driver Guide resource below from NDDPI for additional information, laws, and regulations.
