CREA - Cohort O - Volume 2 (O-2): Language Essentials for Teachers of Reading and Spelling K-12 (LETRS) - Minot (2024-2025) [Multi-Day Series]

PREREQUISITE:Language Essentials for Teachers of Reading and Spelling K-12 (LETRS) Volume 1

OBJECTIVE: LETRS® provides K-12 educators with an in-depth understanding of the science behind teaching literacy and gives them the background and depth of knowledge to teach language and literacy skills to every student. Designed to be the cornerstone of a multiyear, systemic literacy improvement initiative, LETRS® is the most respected comprehensive professional development course for instructors of reading, spelling, and related language skills.

Volume 2 of this professional learning series focuses on the following units:



  • Unit 5: The Mighty Word: Oral Language and Vocabulary


  • Unit 6: Digging for Meaning: Understanding Reading Comprehension


  • Unit 7: Text-Driven Comprehension Instruction


  • Unit 8: The Reading-Writing Connection

AUDIENCE: Educators who have completed LETRS Volume 1 (Units 1-4)

PRESENTERS:

DELIVERY: This series will be delivered as a combination of onlineand face-to-face sessions.

CREDIT: 2 per semester; total of 4 per year

SEEC - NDSoR: Hotline (2024-2025) - Monthly Virtual Meetings

The ND SoR Hotline will be a reoccurring public forum of 90 minutes that has the following format:


  • Updates on ND SoR Opportunities and News

  • New Learning Opportunity

  • Questions and Answers from the field.

Objective:

The NDSoR Hotline aims to provide direct access to updates, new learning, and technical assistance to participants.

DELIVERY: This event will be meet once per month for 90-minutes VIRTUALLY for 9 sessions. Meetings will NOT be recorded.Participants are encouraged, but NOT required to attend all meeting dates.

AUDIENCE: Literacy Teachers (All Levels); Principals; Superintendents; EL Teachers
